SIA Updates:

SIA to Launch Anti-Trafficking Project

     Worldwide, millions of women and girls live in sexual slavery. Although this topic is gaining awareness, people still often assume it exists far from home. But the truth is: sexual slavery occurs in every country around the world.
     To shed light on this problem, Soroptimist will launch a new project for clubs and members to raise awareness of sexual slavery. Though it will be introduced at the Soroptimist Professional Development Seminar in August, the project will officially launch on December 2, 2007, the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery.
     Materials to support the new project will be available from SIA's new website, which will debut in mid-September. Stay tuned for additional details.

Member Retention Tool

Retention is often identified as the most crucial element of a membership plan. To help clubs keep the members they work so hard to recruit, Soroptimist recently updated the "Retention Manual," a guide to maintaining and growing healthy and dynamic clubs. New Quadrennial Project

SI’s 2007-2011 Quadrennial Project will be “Project SIerra, A Family and a Future,” a partnership with UK-based Hope and Homes for Children that assists orphaned and abandoned children in Sierra Leone. The project will launch following the SI Convention this July when the 2003-2007 Quadrennial Project, “Project Independence,” comes to an end. More information about this new project will be available after the SI Convention.
